This study addresses the critical need for accurate classification of various brain diseases, moving beyond binary classification that previous studies predominantly focused on. Leveraging Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), particularly MobileNetV1 and MobileNetV2, as lightweight backbone networks, the research employs transfer learning on brain MRI images. However, accurately characterizing brain diseases requires considering features like object location, texture, shape, and size, often overlooked by traditional CNNs. To address this, the study proposes a Bilinear Convolutional Neural Network (BCNN) that leverages the strengths of both models using a bilinear pooling operation, significantly enhancing classification performance.
